Fright Nights at Thorpe Park!

My second scare experience- 4*

Today I attended my second scare event Thorpe Parks Fright nights, again with my trusty partner in crime- my brother. This years objective was to try and get round a maze keeping my eyes open and I'm very proud to say I achieved this for all the mazes. Although Thorpe Park doesn't quite have the same authentic and historic grounds as Alton Towers (this for me was the overall reason I gave Alton the 5*) Thorpe still throws everything it has into its Fright nights event making for another fantastic scare experience, it also included Scare Zones- live acting areas aswell as the mazes. Here are my reviews of the mazes and attractions!

Maze 1- Creek Freak Massacre the final cut- I believe this maze has become a bit of an icon for Thorpe Park in the same way Trailers has and it didn't disappoint. Following a short hill billy lead pre-show we are lead into the underground layer of a crazy bunch of hill billy creek freaks as they come at you from all angles and with a whole host of noisy machines (many chain saws!) this maze was so fun we did it twice! Superb jump scares and set pieces including a chain saw wielding dr scene. Both times we were literally chased out- such energetic performers! 5 out of 5 for scares!

Maze 2- Trailers- the theme and storyline behind this maze are just brilliant. In fact I think it may be my favorite maze ever for originality in the story line. You are welcomed into an old cinema by a characterful attendant before learning that all is not as it seems, the cinema has become bewitched and now the movies are breaking through the screen and coming to life. What I love about this maze is how each section is so unique in theming from the zombie infested hospital wing to the creature lurking in the bed (so clever not to mention freeky!) super jump scares and scenes. 5 out of 5 scares!

Maze 3- The Survival Games- the brand new maze for 2022 and a huge maze. Loosly based on the Netflix hit 'Squid Games' this maze sees guests divided into separate cages before being let loose at different angles and sent off in different directions as they basically try and find their way out. We did this maze twice and I still feel a little undecided about it. Although the theming was quite unique felt some of the characters in the maze were a little vague. Although I liked the concept of disorientating and leading guests round in circles there were moments when it just got a bit annoying and I actually almost headed out the fire exit at one point. I enjoyed the maze but I feel like I need to try it out again before passing judgement. Possible 3 out of 5 scares.

Other Attractions

* Deaths Doors- a similar concept to Altons Trick or Treat town but this scare zone was just our chaos. I don't think it was helped by the fact we missed out on a lot of jump scares due to a big group in front of us. Unlike Trick or Treat town the actors didn't seem to stay in one place behind the doors and instead chose to follow you or even surround you- which was quite funny but I did feel like you missed out on the initial novelty on knocking on the door.

* The Terminal- a weird audio experience where guests are seated in pitch black pods listening to seemingly spooky alien noises. It didn't really work for me tbh.

* The Crows of Mawkin Meadow- a super scare zone with a very talented cast of physical performers bringing these creepy scarecrows to life.

* Ghost Train- a very clever immersive experience

* Saw and The Walking Dead the ride- two great horror themed roller coasters!
